I used to hang out with self identified skeptics/atheists, because I thought that rational inquiry was the way to a happier, more mentally healthy society.

Except most of them were miserable and angry. Many were also self-destructive hedonists.

Now I don't mind so much hanging out with the woo woos, because they seem happier and more concerned with their health (even though they overcorrect and believe weird things about what is healthy).

I think there's this glitch in humans that causes them to thrive under self-imposed structure built from incredibly weird, unverifiable conclusions about how the universe works.

Yes.

Hanging out with skeptic 🙂

Hanging with woowoos ☺️

Not hanging out 🤯

Ignorance is bliss

Woo woos: focus on abundance and abundance will come!

Me: yes, queen! 🤑💰💸 More positivity please!

Woo woos: you're actually an alien-angel from the orien constellation sent to earth to guide us out of the clutches of evil reptilian overlords which seek to permanently separate us from the divine through nuclear war.

Me: fucking what 😳

Sounds like my bro Deepak needs to hop in on this line dance and show y’all how it’s done.

Fuck the reptiles 😡

Hanging with the woo woos just means you have to exercise that muscle that restrains you from needing to be the know-it-all putz sitting around the tribal campfire.

I think I'd probably find self-identified "skeptic" or "atheist" groups to be pretty grating. Defining yourself in opposition to a thing, as opposed to FOR something, can be a very depressing way of going through life.

That being said, I readily self-identify as "atheist" much more than skeptic. As someone who's also interested in modern #ufo inquiry, I find self-identified "Skeptics" to be incredibly annoying. These are people who have basically pre-committed themselves to taking the "conventional wisdom" side of any issue, rather than starting from an open position of inquiry and seeing where it leads.

And don't get me wrong, siding with conventional wisdom will make you right 99% of the time. There's plenty of dangerous "woo" for self-identified "Skeptics" to push against. But it's that 1% that will get you, and that's where the UFO/UAP issue lives, IMHO.
