The side quests are to gain more enjoyment, and deepen the experience of your character in parallel to the main story line
Be open minded to the side quests, it helps deepen that character arc of yours

i was really disappointed about patch tuesday... it was probably the most stressful day of the week in my job and no playtime
but the level up mindset is a good one
I can't let myself play anymore. I don't even let myself touch the video game systems my friends have in the house. I have an addictive personality and had given up IRL completely when I was in Azeroth 🙃

too much time has passed and i need to engage with the world outside
The outside world can be a pretty terrible place, so it's understandable that we sometimes fall into easy outs like alcohol or video games. What's important is that we know we can find our way back! For me, I had a moment where I realized... I can learn how to shoot a bow IRL. I too can mushroom hunt or tan hides or all these other random things my WOW character was doing. It was fun to learn but still away from most people and the triflingness of the outside world which makes me want to hide away.
I hope you find some good things to fill your outside world with, then it won't be so tempting to avoid it 🫂
