The Honda Pilot Trailsport (2025) is one of the last lines of low-tech, affordable, mid-size, 3 row SUVs that doesn't completely suck.

- Best all-around family vehicle. Behaves like a mini van but drives like a truck. Can go over a curve in an emergency. Tight; even the wife can park it with practice.

- Works on countryside roads or for camping. Tows a small load. Roof storage is functional. Not so expensive that you need to baby it. It should last: it's a Honda.

- No turbo engine. No hybrid bullshit. Interior is rough and basic. Kid ready. Teenager ready. Very grey man compatible. Keep the stickers off of it. Get an outdoor colorway so you don't need to wash it every week.

- Gets all the basics right; USBc charging, no backseat screens, great storage capacity, huge sun roof, steel collision bars, intercom, hidden storage for breakdown and medical kits, infotainment screen in front is low-fi and works with #GrapheneOS.

One of the last new lines of vehicles that are still #WorthTheSats.

Need !

Sunroofs are retarded. Just another way for water to get in as it ages (and stops working).

Hybrids are dope, no friction plates in those eCVTs, the transmissions last forever (the battery is the weak link). You basically get a electronic supercharger for short burts and your city driving doesnt suffer mpgs.

Hybrids should be the standard for internal combustion engines. What we call plug-in hybrids are more akin to actual hybrids if we are referring to full electric as the direction we are headed towards.

Do you own one?

Can't say.

So elusive, so private comrade.

Let's just say I really like it and am surprised a cat like this can still exist in 2025.

Thanks comrade.

You like a commie or something?

No comrade, just bound for the Gulag.

Muting for comrading me.

But didn’t they introduce cylinder deactivation? What’s your experience with it?

Yes. And auto start/stop. Least favorite part.

VCM v4 can't be disabled right now, but there are some reports it's much better than previous attempts.

It's easy to invert auto stop so that it's disabled by default instead of enabled.

I need to get rid of my car for something new for both family and outdoors/camping.

Personally I don’t trust anything made post Covid. If the cars from the 80s are any indication of what happens to production during inflation….it suggests stay away.

The car market is trash. You have to gamble on something old if you want to get atleast 300k+ mi in my opinion.

Certainly need to be careful. Very little quality out there, in cars and homes, these days.

I got a 2020 4Runner and have been very happy with it. It’s fairly low tech and hasn’t had any major issues

I was looking at a 4Runner or a 6 speed Tacoma.

That or stick with Subaru in a forester, Outback or crosstrek. I think I trust Toyota more than Subaru, my WRX is a nightmare

I'll take one with leather interior 👍

Physical knobs for temp control 🤤

One of the last vehicles resisting all screen controls.
