Hey Nostrs. Can you help? I'm an Instagram boating education content creator, and I'd love to bring my content to Nostr, I know its still a small niche audience but I thought I'd test it out to see if there's potential for influencers on this platform.

I'm having difficulty though, I don't understand the relays and if incorrect selection of relays reduces reach. I also don't know how to get my content to be pushed out to people, so can I ask a big favour of the Nostr community please?

Can you help me reach anyone interested in boating and a bit of humour to repost, the crap out of this note? I wanna see if I can grow through reshares, as its not working as it does in insta. (I even have non boaters enjoy my content on insta, so don't let that be a hurdle😉)

I'm giving away my boating IP for free here on Nostr, and I'm old enough to have acquired quite a bit, so I'd really appreciate your support to see if we can get traction for influencers (the good kind😆) on this platform.

Stay safe on boats and all that. Life vest. Kill cord. I'm learning so much. My friend's little brother fell of a boat and (luckily, only) shredded his leg. Accidents like that can be prevented. He made a full recovery, thankfully, but many aren't as fortunate.

But definitely lose your Bitcoin to the seas, that's fine.

Relays help with reach. The more relays you connect and write to, the potential for more people to see. There are no algorithms, so your info will spread organically as you follow people and they follow you. You can search for and follow hashtags as well. We use #plebchain as a way to find others that consider themselves to be plebs. Check it out.

On Nostr, people see you in a few ways. The best way is to show up in their notifications by reacting, commenting, boosting, and, most significantly, zapping their notes (saying good morning and good night to others is like free engagement farming). The second way is via hashtags. And the third is by being followed.

Other clients like Primal will have something like a trending list for notes that have received a lot of zaps. More clients will come out with various algorithms over time that users can curate to their own needs.

You want to be connected to 10-15 relays that are fairly popular. Every now and then, check out the relay list of other people, and if you see that you're not connected to one that a lot of others are connected to, drop one of your lesser ones for that one. Think about joining a couple paid relays like nostr.wine too.

I've noticed that Nostr is more about quality over quantity. You wont find the same level of clout as on other social media. But the interactions you get will hopefully be more meaningful and with a few zaps, more lucrative. Consider the "1000 good fans" concept and it can really work on this V4V model, it would never work on the others.

As paradigms shift so too should our approach and expectations.
