Communities have social norms and expectations. These lead to bad decision making. People will make choices that are not the best for themselves to please the community so as to be in good standing so they can get the best that they offer at the expense of what others outside the community might offer

That's a good point, I've seen the damage that a clout-chasing lifestyle can cause to oneself and others. There's definitely a balance to be struck. I certainly wouldn't jump off a bridge if my community told me to lol

The balance is in the free markets. The markets will decide what is acceptable and unacceptable. And thanks to bitcoin we now have a way to eliminate monopolies over our money so we can always have free, open, and fully transparent markets where everyone is capable of making the best choices for themselves
