Leather can be more difficult to source than you think.
There's a few I tried to get my hands on recently and couldn't. Might have to wait a few months as they can't be found anywhere else.

Is it like other things where there’s actually only, like, 3 places that produce it at an industrial volume and all other sources are small, 1-man shops?
Even worse than that it seem.
First each tannery make their very own leather with their own process. So each leather really has 1 source.
But they are not the ones distributing it. Some leathers like pueblo you can find everywhere but others like goat skin from Alran you can only find in 1 place.
Rmleathersupply.com seems to be the official and only distributor of many leather.
