What if there is no winner takes all on social protocols?

Nostr takes the cake for one part of the social graph. Markets. Git. Etc...

DIDs takes the corporate "social" and government ID.

Bird keeps a lot of the users that want to owned

Mastodon dies, lol, this one no one can save.

Then much better smarter bridges are built because each network wants to tap into the economical capacity of the other?

Where does Blyesky fit into this? Does anyone know?

Bluesky. Fuck

DIDs

We'll never have one platform or protocol to take all, IMO. Social is too diverse and too complicated. That's why we have so many social platforms now, each with their own niche. I don't see why our decentralized alternatives will be any different. I do agree that Mastodon will die in a firey death though.

Nah fuck all that, nostr takes it all, the only question will be which clients get most market share 😈

I think this is a very sound prediction.

All the social protocols become interoperable (nostr, activitypub, bluesky).

Different clients just have different user experiences with better compatibility on the same protocol. Users that prefer more censorship (activitypub,at/bluesky) will be able to do that over there, while nostr remains the most free.

What does “most free” mean in this context?. What’s stopping an ATP client from being as free as a nostr client? Still learning about details of ATProtocol so generally curious here.

The people on that protocol seem to be very keen on filtering, shadow banning, etc. nostr is set up from the get-go by making censorship very hard via multiple relays. ATp looks a lot like the fediverse to me and we know how that went.

Don’t you think eventually you will have one box into which to type and send that post interoperably to whatever venues you choose? And once everyone has this one box, and is essentially in the same network, it’ll be hard on the middlemen platforms.

Yes, super clients that can push/pull from different networks and normalize the experience

‘bout to get real #[4] 😝

Yeah, that video nicely shows that the experience kinda sucks for other Nostriches. 😜

They will see cc'd people that don't exist on nostr, if they interact with the nostr profile, they won't get response, and the feeds will essentially become half zombielands...

Blessed are those who know how to distinguish a mountain from a molehill: they’ll be spared a lot of hassle.

users who “like to be owned” will come for the additional features that open source discovers/provides

Seems reasonable. The problem with winner takes all is not everyone agrees.

Don't see why Nostr can't be listed as a DID method.

Mastadon is aptly named , it will go extinct.
