I didn't really "get" Bitcoin until I understood what money is and why our system is so broken.

Maybe send them a copy of broken money or some Austrian econ textbooks and then revisit the Bitcoin question.

I still lean on Cryptoeconomics for fundamental principles of bitcoin, money, and the state. To me, maximalist arguments do amount to a ponzi scheme and ignore basic understanding of economics.

Yeah, I definitely have to agree there. Most maxi influencers make everything sound like a Ponzi scheme.
