What’s so different other than being more elaborate and detailed now? I agree all the co-branding is kinda lame and causes a premium. I remember some of my childhood sets in the 80s had instructions too and we’d always build the set first and admire it for a few days, and then destroy it and build something else. Exactly what I do with my kids now

once there were mostly basic bricks and less kits.
you used your fantasy to build things.
now you have mostly expensive kits with very specific "bricks".
you buy the kit, build it (involving zero fantasy) and never destroy it because it costed a lot and the "bricks" it is made of are very specific and less reusable for other constructions
I’m 50. There were kits when I was a kid. Not sure what you’re going for with your last sentence but you can tell me what we do all you want and it won’t change what we actually do. And if you think the specialty bricks aren’t helpful for building new ideas then you might have an imagination problem.
hey Dominic, no need to take it too personally and attacking back. I wasn't pointing at you directly: that was just my opinion.
Copy that, thanks for clarifying. I always assume good intentions until it’s clear that they’re not, but it just seemed really specific that you used the word destroy when I also did. If you meant the wider “you” of society then I get it.
