Going through the process of setting up miners to heat up my home and water tank, right now. However, I keep wondering whether it would just be better to buy more sats, instead of investing in the home heating.

It makes much more sense to buy the sats, unless you are explicitly wanting to either start a project like this and get KYC-free (uncompromised) sats, OR your heat has broken and you want to replace it with a lower upfront cost.

I was in the latter camp. My heating unit broke and it was going to cost me $7k to replace it. So i opted to plug my miners in

That's the conundrum I'm in. My gas furnace is 25 years old. Their life expectancy is around that range.

I'm trying to figure out whether I should put the money towards the mining units and other materials needed to convert my home heating, or buy more sats and wait until my furnace goes before dealing with it.

I'm leaning more towards buying more sats, and dealing with the heating later, but I'm opened to suggestions if anyone has them.
