Dunno about NATO stuff, but i believe we’re severely lacking in building military ships after closing many shipyards after ww2, since our focus shifted to a different economy. Our commercial ships are primarily from South Korea as well. Our country doesn’t seem financially incentivized or prepared to take on reopening more shipyards for defense prep. If this question was brought up 2 years ago, people would have laughed. But it seems like a vulnerability since China’s been stacking ships for the last 30 years like bitcoin maxis.
