This can't be all real people. It's been going up anywhere between 10-30 a day lately. Some of that must be bullshit accounts. Hard to say.

Odd flex but okay
The beauty of nostr. follower count means nothing and gives you a different number with every page refresh or on different apps.
Nostr.band is pretty close to the truth. It misses a few because it's only reading a few of the most used relays. But that's just a count of npubs that are subscribed to your npub.
There's a lot of npubs, but only about 9-10k daily active users.
Yeah nostr.band is very good but I just stopped caring. On nostr follower count doesn't really mean anything and can be easily manipulated by any wannabe inFLUenza. Zaps are the signal 😉
Zaps and replies are what keep me going. I say some shit on X and it gets a couple likes and maybe a repost. I say some shit on Nostr and it starts an all day discussion that everybody jumps in on. I love it!
I've noticed same - will get ~40-50 fake followers all at once with the most generic names and 0 posts once or twice daily.
Not likely any fix will be implemented allowing user to curate follower lists because nostr is broken in this regard, so is what it is I guess.
Yeah like somebody is making npubs and building social graphs with them, but why? I suspect their motives are not benevolent.
I think people do sign up but it's boring for them so they leave but there always possibly there bots
