I'm going to go out on a limb here and make a bold prediction. We may never see an empty mempool again.

Skeptical.

What will happen to my important financial transaction with 1 sat/vbyte?

you will be bumping the fee or watch it get pruned.

I had a transaction that I had to bump from 1 to 4. Not too bad.

Technically this doesn't make sense as mempool is local to each node. You can have an empty mempool just by not accepting any tx into your local copy.

you're not wrong here, but...

lol

💯

My beloved 1sat/vB R.I.P. and please return from the dead!!

We saw one this morning, but I assume it was probably just because they were mined so close together

Ah, you said empty mempool, not block. My bad.

yeah, these things happen from time to time. we had this happen a week ago actually.

Bold prediction. I’ll make my own prediction when I see monke jpegs actually surviving economics of Bitcoin bull market.

we'll see, but i don't think high fees phase them. they came from ETH gas fees.

💯 This is our new reality from now on. We just need to make “real” transactions compelling enough that people are willing to pay the higher fee to crowd out monke jpegs. Even then, the mempool will likely never clear again

I remember setting up my friend a HW wallet and sending him sats. Fee was 26 sats/vbyte then. We' ve had worse and it always clears. This time no difference.

NGU

Just pushed through a bunch of TXs at 9 sats/vBytes.

Tools a couple of blocks, no biggie. Fee still tiny really.

Smaller payments will def go to ⚡.

It's only a question of time until fees come down again. It was similar with the fees on Ethereum during the last bull market. At the time it might feel like this is the new normal, but it's only a question of time until interest fades away

Your post is attracting a lot of attention.
