I’m bored, so I decided to plot the Primal Trending Column notes by rank order and some of their key attributes, like the number of comments, zaps, likes, reshares, and total number of reactions.

Now, before we spiral into conspiracy land, this is not about that. 🤣

I just wanted to see if I could look at the numbers and learn something.

I learned a little, but I’m still puzzled by how it works.

For example, rank Number 2 seems like it shouldn’t be there, yet there it is, which clearly means I am missing something. But it’s just cool to look at. On the other hand, I see notes from other friends :ehm: with higher numbers that never make it into Trending. I also don’t see their npubs in the filters.

Someone smarter than me probably can peek into Github and learn much more there. But anyway, here is the chart.

There might be a time component too. Like if #2 received a lot of likes in a short amount of time compared to the others it might get more weight.

I did the regression analysis. Didn't find significant correlation. But also, that doesn't mean I am right. Just means I couldn't find it.

My gut feeling tells me that Primal takes into consideration how old is the account. If the account is new, everything is amplified.
