Couple things.

While there is a reasonably argument to the existence of race, culture plays a primary mover in predictable outcome.

I don't entirely disagree with your parents, but like with all things in this world, it's complicated.

We as humans are at a time we've oversimplified the complexity of the world around us.

That said, considering race as a primary factor in the value of ability of an entire group of people is the very broad generalization that is the definition of bigotry.
