Is the 80% charge limit to promote battery longevity?

Yes.

With IOS had that dang

Nvm it basically does

thanks for the hint, directly activated

I rooted my android 13 phone specifically for this reason, it charges to 75%

i've had two phones now that i so rarely took out of the house that ended up with bloated batteries from being constantly plugged in and charging to 100%... yes, i still have both of them but i am not keen on using them because sooner or later the hydrogen in there will rupture and kick off the lithium fun fun fun
