Exactly what I’m thinking, and people are used to completing an onboarding task to receive points; an organic reward when introducing yourself seems like such an onvious case of solving where to get the first sats from.

You could even show new users “here’s what other people wrote recently” and show the highest zapped #introductions in the pst couple of days

these are interesting points. most reward point systems are just issued without any cost. zaps have a real cost (even if small). any “welcome zaps” would have to be given by someone. onboarding client or other users? the more automated the more game-able/drainable.

maybe a welcome channel/relay that shows new accounts who haven’t yet received a zap? and if/when it clicks for people who receive zaps ask them to pay-it-forward to send what they received

yeah, there's already an #introduction hashtag that is used by people to find new people and welcome them; I think the idea of making this into a gamified part of an onboarding app where you give new people examples of other "successful" (however you define this) introductions done by others, would be very interesting to explore

I really like the idea of an app that surfaces new users for anyone to zap. Maybe with a leaderboard that show who zapped/how much so that the daily top greeters can be acknowledged

Sidenote: the issue with hashtag-introduction is that that's a concept heavily used on mastodon and so if you greet those folks, they won't see it (unless we somehow publish Nostr events into activitypub?)
