Interested in hearing from other parents about their children’s education experience. Apparently here in 🇨🇦 kids don’t have to actually do their work. Lol. Mr E ‘didn’t feel like doing his work’ so the teacher just sent it all home. lol like all of it. So I asked, aren’t there consequences for not doing your work?…nope! Nada. 🤦♀️#kidstr.

like father like son
It's the same in Japan, but the consequences don't hit until after junior high school. High school isn't mandatory education in Japan so if you don't have the grades, you need to start working or start a trade school. (Degrees, licenses, social ranking is everything in Japan).
We are also facing another problem of kids just not coming to school. Maybe "school" has just become some boring cultural nonsense rather than opening and engaging a child's mind. Or maybe tiktok has fried so much of our youth's potential.
I'm still trying to figure it out 😂. Some things come home with grades and some don't. I think here (TX) it depends on what grade they're in 🤷♀️.
Some kids hate hw naturally…
One still has to teach them effort even when they don’t want to.. grit kicks in where luck and intelligence end.

It is stuff like that which led to me homeschooling my kids. That was the best decision. Of course, I believe homeschooling in California is difficult to impossible.
