Good way to start the day😊☕
I've been wanting to start doing this
Super easy. Fire pit with no bottom airflow (can be a hole in the ground), build a fire, load fire as fast as possible without burning the place down. When flames get low again, spray with water. You should be able to easily breakup the biochar pieces. I crush with a flat shovel in a 5 gallon bucket. Make sure you don’t breath in dust.

At this time of year when we wake up it's below freezing in our tent, but I always check the retort in our stove for the previous night's burn before getting dressed because I'm so excited about making biochar!
This is the way.
