Or tragedy of the commons : a whole community thinks someone will for something, so no one does.

Or just plain retardation : Chinese chick gets to be lead maintainer by being a dude's girlfriend. Its like no one in Bitcoin has spent 5 minutes studying China, cuz if they had, they'd know that's exactly how China gets access to stuff.
