I was just ignoring most of them up until now but for the good of my mental health I decided that from this moment forward I'll start unfollowing all those who I see mocking people who can't join in on onlyzaps.

If you can do onlyzaps then by all means do it, I see nothing wrong with it.

But if you think you need to belittle those who won't join, because "1 sat is worthless lol" then I feel sorry for your lack of empathy.

Nostr is supposed to be for everyone, and that includes those who are broke enough to see each single satoshi as one more brick that will one day build their bridge to a better life. So while at the same time I am happy for you for never being poor, I also feel sad seeing the way you treat those who are and I just don't want to follow people that make me feel sad.

Btw I do follow way too much people(over 2k profiles) but everytime I try to prune that follow list I can't bring myself to unfollow any but the abandoned and inactive accounts 😅

Yeah it was my early days of not knowing anybody on nostr and playing with the "follow all" button on iris 🤣🤣 now I cant bring myself to correct it, especially because Im kinda glad I did it, else I wouldn't have met some really nice people here 🫂🫂

I've been way out of this zaponly thing, I am assuming it is Damus thing only? I only use Amethyst.

But I've been seeing alot of discussions and negative stuff from ppl lately. Which is something I've never witnessed before on Nostr.

Yeah it's a new thing for damus. But in fact people always had this option. All they had to do was push one button instead of the other. #[4] for instance does this for a good while now, he just zaps instead of likes and theres nothing wrong about that!

I just can't bring myself to understand people mocking those who can't/won't join in the "new" trend.

Are we guinea pigs being experimented on? I love the ability to pay someone easily for content that I appreciate. I am still, after the couple of months that it has been prevalent, unsure about the whole "public" element of zapping and now that some are mandating that we "onlyzap" is something I am also unsure of. My bias is towards we should be able to do what the fuk we wanna do without any core "clique" trying to convince us that we should follow their guidelines. Nostr is a protocol that allows for those without a voice to reclaim our voice from those who have used and steered us at their whim.
