Warehousing and accessing good memories is a talent. We are given the promise that the Holy Ghost will “bring all things to your remembrance,” most notably Christ’s words (John 14:26). Memories properly inventoried can serve as their own “cloud of witnesses” (Hebrews 12:1), there to steady us.
Memories can be renewing and prevailing amid present difficulties.
There once was a dachshund
Oh so long,
He hadn’t any notion
How long it took to notify
His tail of his emotion.
So while his big eyes were
Filled with woe and sadness,
His little tail went wagging on
Because of previous gladness.
