Just look at all that energy being wasted!
I don't look at it as wasted energy....rather energy that can be applied more tactfully. .... I wonder if the energy police will ever tell the advertising companies in Times Square to "curtail" their energy use the same way they tell the Bitcoin miners....
Digital and outdoor advertising has massive energy and environmental costs, and it’s rarely criticized because it feeds the bottom line of most major companies, including the ones that own all the mainstream media.
I managed to bump into this PDF.... detailing the different signage and found out roughly the costs associated with each platform.... Interesting.
The higher end ones we always see at Times Square use .0.342 gigawatt hours each per year.
That's a lot of ⚡...
