How did it go? 😂
Went well! We had a good chat about permissionless/interoperability and the difference between crypto versus bitcoin (using the analogy of shitty earlier internet stocks versus the internet itself). He got it!
💪🏼
If they wanna sell Girl Scout cookies, I’ll buy them all. But it’s either on chain or over lightning.
None of this Venmo bullshit.
😂
Told him a little about p2p but getting him started on CashApp so he doesn’t get distracted by any shiny shitcoins at the coinbase casino
Phoenix!
Oh you mean FeeNix? 😂🫂
Tell me more! They have a fee problem? What’s better?
I personally haven’t experienced this, just heard second-hand, but couldn’t resist the wordplay.
I think any path of least resistance that avoids shitcoinery is fine for onboarding.
I use and like Phoenix. Their fees are higher than some alternatives, but IMO it’s a pretty fair price for the service of running a functional Lightning phone on my iPhone without much technical know-how. They manage the channel opens/closes and grossly overestimate the miner fee when sending funds on-chain. That’s my only complaint.
But it always gets into the first block, and it’s still never more than a couple thousand sats or so, even to move significant funds
I’d say just send him enough to use Lightning first rather than onchain first. Lightning is as good as cash app but it’s custodial!
Agree, but he wanted a way to DCA. Definitely too much of a beginner to get into something like Tor + RoboSats + send dollars via Strike/CashApp (lol), at this stage of the game
Once he tells me he’s actually bought a little, we’ll start the discussion around self custody, wallets, addresses, and keys
