I finally have the new contractor ready to go, and I have a smaller team that will finish out the upstairs second bathroom that has been out of commission for more than a year now.

We are coming up on the 2 year mark for this “6 month project” and we will have been without a laundry room for a full year on August 4th.

Our new contractor has to tear out everything “done” and start from scratch, so I’m basically out all of the money we invested in framing, ducting, and electrical downstairs up to this point.

However, starting from nothing, his timeline is 3 months… which is what this should have been from the start. If they stick to that timeline, this will end up being a 27 month project that COULD have been completed in 3 months, and I could’ve just been stacking sats through all that time rather than splitting my days between correcting work downstairs, maintaining loans, trying to figure out how to spend as little BTC as possible, and working out of a mess of a “storage closet” essentially with one bathroom and no laundry in the house.

This has been one big giant mess, but I feel like the light at the end of the tunnel is coming into focus and I’ll have a real studio, finally after all these years, before this coming winter. And the whole downstairs will be heated by hash power is a quiet and easy setup.

Keep moving forward 🫡

"Buy cheap, buy twice." Sometimes it's cheaper in the long run to go with the more expensive option if it saves you this kind of headache!

Sounds like a hell of a journey but I'm sure you will look back on it as a great experience in years to come.

Hash power heated studio sounds so cool, very jealous.

I wasn’t even really trying to save money, although it *looked* like it was aligning that way. I was just trying to go with the guy who had been my go to when I worked with the previous company. But he and they had a “falling out” of some sort.

I kept telling him I wasn’t trying to save money, what I wanted was to get it done as fast as possible before my daughter was born. I just kept getting gaslit that the point where “it will get really fast after this…” was right around the corner. Unknowingly I hired him to basically do the job by himself and with his buddy there half the time for maybe 2 full days out of the week.

I should have recognized the signs earlier, but I’d worked with the guy on other projects through the company and he really seemed to have his crap together. I guess I found out though 🤷🏻‍♂️

That really sucks, especially when it's someone you've used and trusted before. Hopefully it'll all be done soon 🙏🏻

Congratulations on the birth of your daughter, we just had a little girl 8 weeks ago now. 👶🏻
