Dear Gen Z,

I’ve talked a lot of shit watching y’all figure stuff out. I’m sorry.

Y’all are turning out pretty cool.

I have to give Gen Z props. They've grown up being told simultaneously that they need to choose a career path but also that there's a huge chance many those careers won't exist in a few years. They've been told they need to attend university to make a living wage but also that they shouldn't take student loans lest be in debt forever.

They've grown up in a society that keeps changing the definition of the words, so they made their own language, and society makes fun of them for it... but at least they can understand eachother. The rest of society can't even seem to do that.

They've been exposed to hyper-fame, hyper-drama, and hyper-propoganda so blatant that even the undeveloped mind can see through it. They grew up drowning in information, leading them to seek out simple, definitive sources for entertainment and necessity. They are the first generation that I am aware of that broadly views materialism as shallow, time as important, and authority as fallible from such a young age.

Their GFY attitude is both warranted and admirable. I do dread the day they are taxed with caring for me in a nursing home though 😂

i became dimly aware of something being wrong with the world at the age of 12 or so,1988.

my mother studied psychology as a minor subject in her art degree and shared a lot of what she learned with me, and my father was following the conspiracy theory stuff about CFR, club of rome, eugenics, etc

i probably was primed to recognise it by these two things, and the fact that i'm a mixed blood, high IQ and social outcast

i am closing on 50 now but i still have a sympathy for the kids whenever they turn their attention to me and usually they have great respect for my ability to grasp what is important in their messages to me

i think that you might say that what has happened to these young people is that the majority of them are on some kind of margin now where when i grew up the majority were in the majority

there is some really messed up stuff going on in our society right now, that is reaching a crescendo and i don't think it can go much further without a wave pushing back in the opposite direction

Right, not just messed up but complex and fasting moving stuff. They have to be alert all the time.. not only for need but social reasons. It's wild. I think there's probably going to be some major salvation for things that truly matter coming from that group. Not all, but a lot of them.
