Just a point about language--'native' refers to place or origin or way or perhaps source of birth. Natal, Nativity, Nation... it can be a people or a place, though those things often go together.

For my part, I was born in Maine; so was my father, and so was his father, and so were two (or three) generations prior. I am native to this country.
