НЕ БУДЬ ГЛАВНОЙ УЯЗВИМОСТЬЮ SESSION/SIMPLEX/MATRIX/SIGNAL/%MSGRNAME%!

THE MAIN VULNERABILITY OF YOUR FAVORITE PRIVATE MESSENGER

The main vulnerability of any messenger at the moment, even the most private I know, is the IQ level of the person you are talking to. Even if you write to them using triple start-to-start-end-to-end encryption with IP-address hiding and no personal data leaked, and then your conversation partner goes, for example, to a protest with an unencrypted phone, without a password on the messenger, without deleting messages, and, for example, falls into the hands of enemies, they will know what you were texting about. If it was about a committed or planned illegal act, the consequences are fatal.

DON'T BE THE MAIN VULNERABILITY OF SESSION/SIMPLEX/MATRIX/SIGNAL/%MSGRNAME%! DON'T FRAME YOUR FRIENDS IN CASE YOUR PHONE FALLS INTO THE HANDS OF BAD PEOPLE.

Of course people and their physical devices are likely the most vulnerable vector of attack, but that's not a reason to scare people away from using good apps like Signal. It's all about understanding your threat model, and taking the necessary precautions in addition to choosing the right app.

Where tf I'm scaring away from secure apps? On the contrary: I am encouraging to use them wisely!

Apologies, perhaps it was a language thing, just sounded like the general point you were making was all these apps have some kind of problem so don't bother. Upon a closer reading, it looks like that might not be what you were saying.

Oh, my bad for bad wording! No, people shall absolutely use them!!

That’s a great point. All those poor people carrying smartphone surveillance devices with them to a protest.
