I use a Lenovo ThinkCentre M900. You can get them renewed for fairly cheap on Amazon.
Would one of those use more power than the nuc I linked? Power draw is a concern as I'll eventually be off grid and don't need something soaking up my batteries just idling.

Memory: max that bitch. 16gb ddr4 min imo, even though core is fine with 1gb. Gives you room to grow

Ya the pricing is a bit high for an older device; but yes, that’ll do fine for a starter machine that should remain satisfyingly performant for more than a few years.

Can the nuc handle 32gb memory?
Nuc is the specific term for intel’s small footprint desktop. My elitedesks? Ya, I just had wanted to save some parts for the laptops. Most ddr4 machines will support 32gb

My only concern is that I'd kinda like to be able to run the boot drive in raid 1,and I don't think the NUC has two drive slots. If it does... I'm sold and would like to buy from you.
