Waterglass eggs? What that
Take fresh eggs from the chickens. They have to be farm fresh with the blooms on. Mix 1 oz of pickling lime with 1 quart of distilled water. Mix and pour over carefully placed eggs in 1 gallon container. Repeat until container is full. It preserves eggs for about a year. This batch is from last April.
Thatβs incredible that youβre able to preserve those for as long as you can!
Do they taste any different after being preserved like that for 6 or 8 months
Would egg production remain at a constant level if the birds live inside a big greenhouse?
I think itβs more due to light levels.
Yes, daylight is the biggest factor. I've been tracking my egg productivity for a couple years with an app I wrote. Dates are not on this data view, but the peak production is June/July and valleys are Dec/Jan.

Commercial laying chicken life expectancy is 2-3 years. Backyard chicken life expectancy is ~6 years with egg production lasting 3-4 years.
