Sure! Do you know anyone in Africa who can afford to pay $500 to send money to their desired recipient? How about $5000?

Because that’s where BTC fees are going; obviously.

Bitcoin is for everyone who can afford to be part of base layer txs - it’s not for poor Africans just because you say so.

Why so pessimistic? Right now, fees are 1sat/vB and blocks are empty. Even if people need to pool funds to make on-chain transactions, it's way more permission-less than banking. So a family or half a village might run a mint etc.

Not pessimistic - realistic.

Seems to me neither you nor Princey want to be realistic. That’s how we ended up in this mess in the first place.

We still got the option to build what we need and raise the conversations of what is required.

@Anita ⚡️🌈 is doing a great job in raising visibility into the needs that are not being met for the global south, putting the spotlight on what needs to happen so they can have the #bitcoin rails they need.

The guy doesn’t know shit, much less the price of onchain transactions in the future. Dont feed the trolls.

Refute this:

I did pay $500 in fees already in 2017 I think and I'm not exactly sure what to make of the low fees right now. It feels like we are all larping with the world having abandoned Bitcoin already or something of that magnitude cause it doesn't feel like LN is taking over much of the base demand neither. Still I am convinced that people will profit from Bitcoin being an alternative even if they cannot afford to do a base layer transaction on their own.
