For those that are living 100% on a bitcoin standard (which I assume means having paycheck deposited into coinbase and using their debit card?) what do you do for bills that won’t accept a CC for payment?

Switch to nostr:npub1ex7mdykw786qxvmtuls208uyxmn0hse95rfwsarvfde5yg6wy7jq6qvyt9 , they have a bill pay feature that provides you a bank account number and routing number to use. Then when the bill hits, they auto sell your BTC and pay your bill. It looks just like a checking account to the other side. Check it out!
Great reply. Thank you. Is this what you do?
They just launched it last week. I’m transitioning over this month. But other people on Nostr have done it already and said it works great. I don’t think they will accept checks just yet. I’d keep a fiat back account right now For that. Deposit then as soon as it clears, transfer it over to nostr:npub1ex7mdykw786qxvmtuls208uyxmn0hse95rfwsarvfde5yg6wy7jq6qvyt9
I’ll second this. This is exactly what I do. The only bill I haven’t moved over yet is my mortgage because they have some weird two month delay on autopay changes.
Fold app. You can use your account and routing number if you don’t use your bank card. Please never assume anyone is using coinbase, what a sh!t company. You get bitcoin back on all purchases, even transfers from your fold card to another bank account you own. Also you can push sats to your card to top up your USD balance, buy gift cards for sats back… I’m sure I’m forgetting something
Upgrade sir!
Bitcoin checking account:

And for a savings account that holds in USD but pays 3.8% back in bitcoin use river:

Don’t use coinbase! 😂
I don’t use coinbase. Not a fan of them. I personally know one person who lives completely on a bitcoin standard who uses them. I have looked at Fold and Strike (I have a strike account) but hadn’t seen how it works for places that won’t take a CC for payment (like a mortgage payment).
Living 100% on a bitcoin standard using a coinbase debit card? 😂
Living in a bitcoin standard is not using any third party financial institution 😂
How does this look for you?
Living on a bitcoin standard is living a life where you don't use the legacy system.
But in reallity it's an ilusion and it will never happen.
Saifedean sold all of you a fary tail history.
It is not technically possible neither financially.
I would say that there isn’t a concrete definition of what it is. Besides it would take an agreed upon centralized authority to give a blanket definition. In the end we are all making decisions relative to what others are doing. But yes, remaining in a western world, doing modern things without any 3rd parties is impossible.
I assume you are very rugged. Live off the land. Kill animals with your bare hands and only do P2P with your bitcoin.
Not very rugged, im reallist.
Only BTC Maxis believe in ilusions..
That's the goal living off the land, raise animals and killing them for subsistence, and doing only P2P transactions with Monero, the only coin that's doing what was suppost Bitcoin where doing.
Ah, monero, makes sense.
Monero maxis always seem to be pessimists…. But I guess if they consider themselves realists and have a negative view of the world it would look the same…
Not pessimists, the difference is that we build in a way that is impossible to be stopped, and to really empower individuals.
In a dictatorship no one with a little knowledge about how bitcoin works would utilize it to circunvent state proibitions.
But i don't really know that many Monero maxis, a Monerist is one that likes to use the best tool availble for the job.
Bitcoin got to where it is today by preparing for adversarial enviroments.
NOT by taking victory for granted.
Bitcoin got to where it was 10 years ago by preparing for adversarial environments.
Bitcoin got from 2014 got to where it is today by taking victory for granted 😢
Another phrase to describe this is adversarial thinking. The kind of thing that originally made Bitcoin great. You don't build things around best-case assumptions.
You have here a video that shows how we think in the other side. Take a look, you will not regreat.

It's better to shoot for a realistic 50%, instead of pretending you're "living 100% off of Bitcoin".
Especially with Coinbase.
Have you checked out Spritz finance, they let you pay Bills with Crypto.
Maybe Strike too, (I haven't tested out the feature).
Coinbase automatically disqualifes you from being on a bitcoin standard.
I don’t use coinbase at all. I just buy and hold bitcoin in many forms. I still use fiat for my day to day living. Trying to hear how people are using bitcoin to pay for things on the regular.
It's all about asking people and merchants if they would accept Bitcoin or Monero.
Strength in numbers means that I asked hundreds of people dozens of times.
Today I can pay for 80% of my expenses in Monero. It's a tiny revolution. But you can do the same and all those millions of Bitcoin holders could, too. Estimates tell us that 500 million people on this planet own cryptocurrencies. Only 0.01% of those would be a small army of 50k people driving adoption. But I guess the people really living on a Bitcoin/Monero standard are 1,000 to 10,000 people at the moment. Negligible.
Well dang, guess I should sell my huge stack of bitcoin and go home.
