24” x 30” Mixed Media Canvas Update: selecting colors

In the reference photo, it’s day. I want to put in stars, so my art will be a version of night. That means dark colors: blue and purple.

Going to keep the mountains a version of green, more blue than yellow, likely mixing what I have with the colors used in the sky.

A triad color scheme makes for red-orange as the pop color, which will work well for the dragon, though most of it will be black mixed with the greens, blues, and purple.

I pulled the paints I thought would work, swatched them, then kept the ones I want to work with - purple underlined names on the paper.

As you can tell from the size of the paint tubes, I’m used to working small, so a trip for art supplies is likely in my immediate future. 😁

Next will be trying laser image transfers with my gelli plate!
