Ok I need to find out what all the buzz is about with meshtastic. What the heck even is it? Some kind of alternative internet with ham radios?

Think of it like local text messaging, no internet or cell towers. Little radios, kind of like the evolution of walkie talkies, but for gps/text and greater range by “hopping” from radio to radio until reaching recipient. Similar mesh structure to lightning I suppose but for private off-grid comms
