We have the Kobo readers. They never get connected to the internet. I use Calibre to manage the books and to strip DRM.

Where are you downloading the books? Information wants to be free.

Most of them were purchased on amazon in the past, hence the DRM stripping. Plenty of 🏴‍☠️ sites out there as well.
