So I abused the crap out of my greenworks electric chainsaw and cut a part of a cedar tree into some thick slabs to make some Christmas presents.

This cedar tree was cutdown over 7 years ago, and I finally decided to get it slabbed. I don’t have an Alaskan mill or anything. I just used some brain power time and got the slabs.

Flat is not a thing with these so there is going to be a lot of work on the bandsaw, jointer and planer.

My ultimate goal is to turn these into jewelry boxes for my daughters made from wood from the house they were born and grew up in.

Now I need get a moisture meter, and make sure they are dry enough.

Did you switch over to a ripping chain? That will make a big difference. Regular chains are for bucking not so much for slabbing

Nice to work with whatcha got either way!

Thanks. No, about halfway through I was really wishing I had one. It was a semi spur of the moment thing before it starts raining all next week. I knew it was going to suck, but needed to get it done before I couldn’t.
