This weekend I processed 4 bantam roosters. They are small so I don't pluck just debreast and pull the leg quarters.

This is what chicken looks like. IDK what that shit is they sell in the grocery but it isn't chicken. Look at the color of this stuff. The taste is unlike any chicken you have had.

I'm actually pondering the wisdom of getting a few bantams. I brooded a few bantams once and kept a rooster with my full size hens. He did an awesome job and was easier on the hens. We called him Little King. We had to let him go when we moved, I think we gave him to someone who had a cow for fly control duty.

I scoffed when my ex wife brought home a silkie. I thought what a useless chicken with those little eggs.

Later that year she hatched 6 regular sized chicken eggs and took great care of them. I was wrong, she had earned her keep

Since then I've always had room for a silkie or 2.

I never thought about bantam roosters being easier on the hens.
