They are at least finding common sorrow through music, maybe hope... I was presented with "folk music gets popular when a large portion of society is struggling". I had to think it through but it seems to check out. Arlo Guthrie & Woodie Guthrie would have never been popular if their music didn't resonate with the masses at the time.
