Wondering what Cashu-Address is? It’s a Lightning Address accessible to all, merging the strengths of Lightning and Bitcoin eCash. 🥜💜⚡️

No sign-up needed, and setup is almost effortless.

Thanks to its foundation on Cashu , Cashu-Address offers numerous advantages over standard custodial Lightning Addresses:

Your financial activities remain private from your custodian, and you’re free to select or change your custodian anytime.

Moreover, custodians cannot single out or censor individual users, while received payments will be locked to your public key, making Cashu-Address a forward-thinking choice in the world of custodial Lighting.

Because Cashu-Address is built with nostr in mind, your nostr public key is already a valid Cashu-Address. 🥜

I encourage you to explore its features, but remember to proceed with caution and to not be reckless ⚠️💜

So can you send e-cash to a regular LN address? I don’t understand why I would want to use a custodian, in the first place.

Yes you can. Cashu Mints are built on Lightning.

And you might not want to use a custodian. A fully non-custodial setup is the best, but not everyone wants to setup their own node and manage their channels. Cashu offers an alternative that reduces the drawbacks and offers many benefits over „regular“ custodial Lightning.

So it’s just a better version of custodial LN wallets? I have a lot on my plate, at the moment, but once I get settled into my boat, I’ll have a lot do free time. I’ll look into this more. I’m especially curious about fedimints as I believe it to be a great solution to self custody while actually living on a boat. The “boating accident” is funny until it becomes an actual possibility. Boats can and do sink, all the time.

Is there any documentation or tutorial available on how to operate a fedimint?

Is it any good to run a "solo" mint, where I'm the only user (just for experiments)?

Or should I "join" a publicly available mint for this purpose?

I don’t know the answers but I’d be very interested to hear what you find out. I’m in the middle of a different project at the moment but, in a week or two, I’m going to do a deep dive and figure out fedi. Have you reached out to obi, directly? Fedi is still niche enough he’ll probably respond fairly quickly.

also web app can self-hosted in multple ways - if wanna more self- sufficient

This sounds awesome! 👏 👀

Has the receive cap been raised yet?

Yes

That's great. Is it removed completely or what is it now?

It is now at 100.000 sats

BTW, I don’t think you can remove limits on LNURL

This I wouldn't know but I'm happy with the new limit anyway. Thanks!

When I try my npub for some reason I think it's getting paid to egge@blink.sv 😳

Yep right now that’s expected. I am using the blink API as a wrapper invoice to leverage on-payment webhooks. I am currently working on background polling service that will allow me to remove that.

Oh interesting, are you chatting with anyone (maybe nostr:npub14tq8m9ggnnn2muytj9tdg0q6f26ef3snpd7ukyhvrxgq33vpnghs8shy62) about that as yet?

I did reach out to him to report a minor issue with the documentation, but we did not talk about this project specifically.

This looks a lot of fun. Let us know if you have any feedback using the Blink API.

But remember eCash is a custodial solution. Choose wisely who store your satoshi...

Always send to your cold storage.
