Greg Maxwell makes a compelling argument that the 26.9 BTC sent to the Genesis reward address is Calvin Ayre forcing Craig Wright to either prove he is Satoshi or short circuit the COPA case before Craig loses in a more expensive manner.

Facts:

* Calvin Ayre has publicly and privately stated he believes Craig Wright is Satoshi, but that Craig is too autisticly obsessed with proving it "his way" to use the Genesis block private key, which is what Calvin wants Craig to do.

* Craig Wright owes the court £900,000 or, roughly, 26.9 BTC at the time the Satoshi address was recently funded

* Craig Wright does not fund his own legal adventurism -- he relies on Calvin

If you are funding someone up to 900k, so they can prove they are Satoshi, why not just send the 900k to Satoshi? "Hey I was gonna spend this anyways. If you're Satoshi, go get your money, Craig."

Makes more sense than someone accidentally immolating 27 bitcoin.

Honestly, I think you would have to be borderline retarded to believe Craig for more than 5 minutes, let alone YEARS.

I think they (Calvin, Christian, Stefan, et al.) are done with Craig. They haven't been able to sell off their patents-in-a-poke scheme through nChain (read "The Satoshi Affair" for more on this), and they've probably just been using BSV to run low-level crypto scams and money laundering for years. The juice isn't worth the squeeze anymore, and they are performing a "limited hangout" by publicly putting all the evil on Craig.

No honor among thieves.

That of course would mean that the public firings of Christian and Craig were partly for show, and partly to distance Craig. The leaked internal emails in the wake of their internal mock COPA trial would have had to have been staged. And that would also mean that they won't touch Christian, despite him having done several things warranting a lawsuit.

They would rather look dumb than guilty.

Firstly, I don't follow any of the BSV circus.

My question would be why would Calvin do this now? Craig could have signed this at any time? Its been many years.

Craig has pulled off "closed door" signings in front of non-technical people, and that was how he probably got in to Calvin's wallet to begin with. Calvin is not smart. Revent leaks from inside nChain have revealed that confidence of winning COPA was at an all time low and included emails between Calvin and Craig that go something like "You need to publicly sign or I will start withholding funding for your dumb litigation attempts".

Either that, or Calvin has been pretending to be duped for a long time, in order to pin a bunch of his evil on Craig when the nChain train starts running out of steam.

It’s possible Calvin is afraid to stop because he will certainly lose everything he’s pumped in.

So maybe he continues funding in hopes Craig’s luck turns and he can recover all? Most?

I think it is likely they have been using BSV as a means to launder money using TAAL as a front. In the end, Calvin probably has a lot of dark money beyond his public billions, and in the end, what he has spent on Craig and BCH/BSV is relatively small. Especially for an idiot who spends his spare time chasing underage prostitutes in a corrupt jurisdiction that he buys off.

It also means that when Craig loses COPA by default, he can just say "I wanted to prove it my way, and couldn't, so I blew the whole thing up on purpose."

It is as close to a guarantee as you can get that that will happen, if he runs out of Calvin's money.
