Finished the contour garden beds. Each bed is downhill from each other. It’s pretty neat how they work. I have an IBC tote collecting gutter water. I can then flood the top bed, once it overflows, it fills up the next bed downhill and so on until all 4 beds are full. Once the last fills up, any remaining water is sent to the lower swale to flow towards the orchard. There’s something about manipulating the flow of water that feels enriching.

That looks great, we need to work on water on our place.
Water has been the major project around here. We’re on a pretty decent slope and want to capture as much as possible. The last thing I’d like to do is dig a small 1/4 ac pond in the back at the bottom of the slope.
They’re very enlightening projects but take a tremendous amount of labor when doing by hand.

These are cover cropped right now with daikon radish, winter pea, clover, rye grass. I have an order of fruit trees and berry bushes that will be placed into guilds in this space and inter planted with onion, garlic, and some other perennials
