I'm sure most of us have been following President Trump and his assertion of wanting control of the Panama Canal and Greenland. China has a strategic advantage over the US currently in the Panama Canal, as a Hong Kong firm has been directing much of what goes on at the canal. As for Greenland, it has an abundance of rare earth minerals, including uranium. China has threatened to stop their sales of rare earth minerals to the US, using this as a weapon to negotiate terms with the US.
