To add some data ... I login with Amber. When I first got 0xchat to work, it wasn't as slow as it is now. It may have lagged (I can't remember), but now it acts like it's unresponsive.
which phone are you using? Can you remember which 0xchat version started to have the issue?

I have a Samsung A14 (that I'm about to ditch).
I always update when Obtanium shows a new version, and I first noticed this last month, or possibly November.
