I thought people just look for others to hookup. If they can be used to find a partner then sure.
I know some people that use them too hookup and others that use them to find spouses. An old friend of mine met his wife on the Christian Mingle app about 6 years ago. They have two kids now and happily married. And another friend of mine uses the app to bang girls that are half his age. Each to their own 👀

There definitely needs to be a nip for a dating profile. Mainly for the nip puns, but also because the financial incentives for dating apps are broken. They make more money if you stay single and keep paying for greater access levels. If they show you the perfect match first up there is not much scope to make you pay more. Algorithm competition could solve this. Also, zaps to the developers as spam deterral aligns incentives for quality, genuine matches.
