Replying to nobody

GM ! I’ve been trying Mastodon the last few days.

I’ve used Ivory on iOS as a client, really good and polished.

Great communities on Mastodon focused on privacy, open source, and self hosting. 🇨🇦 is well represented too.

Downsides:

- Mastodon does not support E2E encryption.

- Each server has rules, if not respected you will be banned,so no anti-censorship.

- The admin server can read what you post, there is no such thing as a private message.

Example of a privacy policy :

I’ve read the privacy policy for mastodon.social which is the biggest instance used, they do not sell your data, and keep your IP for 90 days.

Fuck mastodon.social.

Fuck the fediverse.

Especially fuck the Fediverse bridge to Nostr.

That place is just an interconnected network of tiny kingdoms. Pretending to have freedom of speech, but it is really decentralized control.

I loath that place for how many times I followed community rules. Only to get banned by egotistically kings on their tiny throans. Even though I broked none of their rules.

I am not.

Cutting off two arms and a leg to go hopping around the Fediverse just to have an experience, but lose my ability to speak freely at a moments notice. Is no better than living in a dystopian society run by petty kings.
