Crewed mission that is, many polar (uncrewed) satellites have been launched for mainly Earth Observation purposes.
He luckily will not reach escape velocity of 11 km/s which would mean they would escape Earth's gravity potential energy. About 7.6 km/s will be sufficient to reach orbit.
If he was to reach escape velocity, he wouldn't be in orbit at all.
