But how tf how does vim not help the user? How much more help does a fella need that a literal tutorial mode

I simply don't think a text editor should need a tutorial, I would be happy with something like nano that just tells you on-screen what you need to press to do basic stuff and then power users can turn off babby mode when they're ready

what I'm sick of is retards swearing vim is the best and *those same retards* struggling to do basic text editing and forcing me to sit through a screen share session of them flailing about

Users like to brag that "they've been using vim for 30 years and they're still learning features". Yeah that's because everything is hidden behind networked tunnels of key combinations and documents. Once you get past basic usage, much of Vim's difficulty is artificial.
