I'm totally against it, but I believe it's inevitable. Three years ago, I complained because a certain bank was doing this to its customers —without their consent— to identifying them and serving them immediately according to their preferences. In practice, it was to improve cross-selling (that bank is part of a financial conglomerate). People, in general, are poorly informed about the consequences of using this type of technology; they lean toward convenience or don't care.
