GOSSIP `stats` page now shows how many bytes of data the client read during your session. During a few 30 minute sessions I had today, it pulled about 1 MB per. From what I understand, some other clients are pulling much more data. This is perhaps another point of difference.

I came home from the office and ran it on my home computer and it downloaded 5.12 MB before it settled down. I don't want to be accused of lying or exaggerating.
With Damus it is quite the reverse: ~30MB per 1min session! 😱
