Primal trending 1hr, 4hr etc...
The trending thing is tricky and clients are different
For example on nostr:npub18m76awca3y37hkvuneavuw6pjj4525fw90necxmadrvjg0sdy6qsngq955 I have only zaps mode enabled and I canβt like any notes, only zaps ! Some people can fake zaps as well so it will push note into trending ! Itβs kind fucked up

It's a bit worse on nostr than other networks because on the nostr you have control over the events you want to see, but on X or Facebook you have no control over what you are shown so you don't even try to do something like make sure you've seen everything you've missed since you last looked. With nostr, you might even be shown a number of how many posts there are to load so you have to face that inbox problem.
You can focus on a few friends that you trust, and they are sure to retweet the latest trending posts. These may also be your concerns.
The solution to being lazy is to stop being lazy
When I'm time poor, I use follow lists to go through the important (to me) notes quickly.
